About Me

My name is Melissa. I'm a stay at home mom (SAHM) of 5 wonderful little children. Ashlynn is our oldest and our first daughter. Next came our second daughter, Riley. Then came our little man Robbie, and we were finished. We had our beautiful daughters and our little boy. Then, Surprise!, we were expecting twin girls. So we welcomed Abigail and Brittany to our family. I am married to a video gaming, Spiderman fanatic named Stuart, who works full time.

I was born and raised in Missouri. I lived in what many people would call a small town. Around the time I turned 19 I moved to South Carolina and so far that is my home. I worked part time in Missouri, and full time in South Carolina until I had my children. Now I work overtime every day!

From a young age I loved to read and it has continued to be a major passion for me. My tastes in books changes constantly. I love the Little House on the Prairie series, also the Left Behind series, Twilight saga, and the Harry Potter series. My favorite author is James Patterson. I love his books and I have enjoyed every one that I have read. I will read any book that I can get my hands on with very few exceptions.

I spend my time with my children, cleaning my chaotic house, reading, and blogging. Sometimes I even sleep! So that is me in a nutshell. If you want to know more, you can ask. I'll try to answer.

  3. Hi Melissa,

A friend told me about your blog the other day I suggested I check it out. I couldn't find your contact information, but wanted to get in touch with you in regards to something I believe would be beneficial to you and your readers.

I work for a company called Reading Horizons, which I absolutely know, changes the lives of those we encounter. We give parents, teachers, and individuals the resources to learn effective reading strategies, not just books to teach with. It is a system that gives a parent the knowledge needed to teach reading effectively.

As a caring mother who is passionate about reading I know you see the importance of strong literacy skills. I wanted to get in touch with you and see if you would be interested in reviewing and/or using our program with your young ones or referring us to others that could benefit from what we do.

We have a program centered towards an emerging reader from ages 4-9. Or, we have a program for a struggling reader ages 10-18. Both give students a needed foundation in phonics and decoding and do so in an effective and research based way.

Please take a look at our website ( www.readinghorizonsathome.com ). If you're interested let me know. I would love to talk more and show you how we help build strong readers. We also have an affiliate program if you would like to support our program in that way.

    Only the best!
